Week 29 MLS Picks

We narrowly missed a profitable matchday last weekend and luckily the damage was minimal. There’s an additional hurdle of four MLS teams that played (and are still alive in) Leagues Cup this week, that type of potential widespread rotation can give us some value on the board.

Before we get to the picks as normal, another reminder that we’ve got an addition to this weekly article in 2025. If you’ve been following along with the podcast during the offseason, you’ll know we’ve partnered with Underdog Fantasy. If you want to play along with us at Underdog, you can sign up today using this link and when you use promo code "NORTHEND" at sign up you'll get up to $1000 in bonus cash plus a free pick!

The official league injury report for Saturday’s games came out Friday afternoon, let’s dive into the Week 29 picks.

Underdog Fantasy Entry of the week

Each match week, we’ll have an Underdog Fantasy entry for you to tail if your heart desires. Let’s get to the board and build a winner!

Credit where it’s due, the offerings on Underdog Fantasy are much more palatable this weekend than last. We’ll begin the Week 29 entry in Cincinnati where the Pigeons of NYCFC are in town. The shot attempt prop for NYC attacker Hannes Wolf is just simply too low set at 1.5 with a plus-one multiplier. Wolf is averaging 2.05 shot attempts per 90 minutes this season and has gone over this number in 16 of his 21 appearances when playing 72 or more minutes in 2025. He also had two shots attempted when these two teams met earlier this season and has recorded at least two shot attempts in eight of 13 road matches.

Then we’ll move to Columbus and look to New England’s DP striker Leo Campana. The Ecuadorian forward has averaged 3.64 shot attempts per 90 this season, so his 2.5 shot attempt prop for a plus-one multiplier immediately jumps out. Campana has gone over this number in 10 of 14 matches when playing at least 62 or more minutes in 2025 and after dealing with injuries through the first half of the season, he’s now played at least 89 minutes in seven of his last eight games. The Crew are one of the better teams at limiting opponent’s shot attempts, but there’s too much value in this line to pass it up.

All three of our props in this week’s entry are on the road in the 6:30 CT window on Saturday, so we’ll know early in the night how our fortunes play out on Underdog. Closing it out with one of the more reliable props we’ve been attacking over the summer months. Osman Bukari is averaging 0.86 shots on target per 90 this season but unsurprisingly to those tapped into Austin FC, he’s been much stronger over the second half of the season. The Ghanaian winger has recorded at least one shot on target in 11 of his last 15 starts and will face a CF Montreal defense that allows the fifth most shots on target per game to opponents this season.

Using the standard payout selection on Underdog, this 3-pick entry will payout a prize of 6.73x your entry fee if successful.

We’ve added some additional plays that can be substituted in place of the props given above if you miss lock for one of those games or one of those options doesn’t start. The additional plays this week are listed in order of preference and we’re fine using these props in any entry.

  • Hany Mukhtar O 1.5 shots on target (1.03x)

  • Michael Collodi O 1.5 goals allowed

  • Chicho O 3.5 shots attempted (1.07x)

  • Evander O 1.5 shots on target (1.07x)

  • Marco Pasalic O 2.5 shots attempted (1.1x)

  • Daniel O 1.5 goals allowed

Week 28 Picks

Inter Miami

ML +115

With Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba sidelined this weekend and Inter Miami coming off midweek Leagues Cup madness, it’s not our typical spot to attack the league’s highest profile team. But DC United are not your typical opponent, sitting on just 20 points in 2025, good for the second lowest total in the league. They will also be missing talisman striker Christian Benteke, meaning the home team should be even more toothless than normal. Miami are deep enough to come in and grab all three points on Saturday night, so we’ll ride with them at plus money to do so.

Austin fC

ML +155

Pretty simple here. Is it a homer pick? Of course! But it’s also an extremely important spot for Austin FC after back to back home draws against their Copa Tejas rivals. CF Montreal is level on points with DC United at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and have just one home win in their 13 tries this season. They also moved two consistent starters on near the end of the transfer window this week, sending Caden Clark to DC and Joel Waterman to Chicago. ATX has lost just once across all competitions since May 31 and we expect them to bounce back with a win on Saturday.

Colorado Rapids

ML +195

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, we’re targeting road teams more frequently this week than any matchday in recent memory. The LA Galaxy will host Colorado in the late window on Saturday night and we should expect some serious rotation from the home side after they defeated Pachuca 2-1 on Wednesday and go again against Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup semi finals this coming week. That competition is the only hope left for the defending MLS Champions to earn some silverware in 2025. The Rapids on the other hand have earned six points from the two games since selling Djordje Mihailovic to Toronto FC. They’re rightful underdogs in this spot, but at nearly 2-to-1, we’re going to take the value going up against a potentially heavily rotated Galaxy team that left some of their more talented MLS Next Pro level players at home on Friday night, indicating we could be very happy with this number when lineups drop late Saturday evening.
