Week 9 MLS Picks

Another great week from the goalscorers has us so close to even we can almost reach out and touch it. Our first full double game week of the season brings us a 11-game slate on Wednesday night.

The official league injury report for Saturday’s games came out Friday afternoon, let’s dive into the Week 9 picks.

Pick’Em Entry of the week

Each match week, we’ll have a pick’em entry for you to tail if your heart desires. This week we’re playing on Underdog Fantasy. If you want to play along with us at Underdog, you can sign up today using this link. Let’s get to the board and build a winner!

We’ll start our Week 9 entry in Houston where San Diego FC is in town to take on the Dynamo. San Diego is winless in their last six across all competitions, largely due to a combination of red cards and injuries. But they’ll see the return of Manu Duah and Chris McVey for this match, which should bring some stability for the squad overall. With that, we want to attack Anders Dreyer’s shot prop at 2.5. Last year’s MVP runner-up has averaged 3.67 shots per 90 minutes this season and 3.2 shots per 90 across his 3,682 career MLS minutes. He’s recorded at least three shot attempts in five of seven MLS starts this season and did the same in 24 of 39 starts last year across all competitions. Houston allows the 9th most shot attempts per game in the league this season so we’ll grab this to kick things off at essentially the standard multiplier.

Then we’ll head north on I-45 to the DFW area where FC Dallas is hosting Minnesota United. THe home side has scored two or more goals in four of their six games at Toyota Stadium this year and are undefeated on their field in 2026. With new DP Santiago Moreno settling in next to the Golden Boot leader Petar Musa, the offense is humming in Frisco. FC Dallas is -150 to score two or more goals and we’ll back them to do so against a Loons defense that’s still missing their captain in Michael Boxall, who has been sidelined since Week 2.

Closing it out with Inter Miami, who have remained in the Rocky Mountains after their Saturday afternoon win over the Rapids at Mile High. They’ll take on Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night and there’s been no indication that Lionel Messi will miss this game. So we’ll take them to record two or more goals, something they’ve done in six of seven MLS games with an appearance by Lionel Messi this season and in 25 of 34 last year.

Using the standard payout selection (and the 30% profit boost token dropped in users accounts on Wednesday) on Underdog, this 3-pick entry will payout a prize of 8.09x your entry fee if successful.

We’ve added some additional plays that can be substituted in place of the props given above if you miss lock for one of those games, want to make additional entries or one of the given options doesn’t start. Patreon members can feel free to reach out and discuss picks in the Discord. As always, the additional plays are listed in order of preference and we’re fine using these props in any entry.

Week 9 Picks

San Jose Earthquakes vs Austin FC

Over 3 -120

This game marks the 13th time these two clubs have played each other across all competitions. After the first meeting back in June of 2021 (the first Austin FC match played at Q2 Stadium) ended in a scoreless draw, the 11 subsequent fixtures have averaged 4.27 goals per game. Seven of nine Austin FC matches this season have seen at least three goals scored and we’re ready for some MLS After Dark on Wednesday night.

Inter Miami

ML +180

Another road match for Inter Miami brings another chance for us to put a unit on a Lionel Messi-led team at plus money. This line makes it seem like Messi could come off the bench, but as of this writing there is nothing reported indicating that will be the case and the club posted video of him in training on both Monday and Tuesday in Utah. Real Salt Lake has been great to begin the 2026 campaign, but we don’t pass up Messi at +180 against basically anyone.

LAFC To Win + LAFC/COL Over 2.5

-125

LAFC took one on the chin on Sunday night when they lost to San Jose at home by a 4-1 scoreline. Now they’ll welcome the Colorado Rapids to town with a bounce back performance on their mind. LAFC have never lost to the Rapids at home, in fact, they’ve won all nine all-time games between these clubs at BMO Stadium. Eight of those nine games saw at least three goals scored. With the Black & Gold significant -245 favorites to win, we’ll pair that with the over 2.5 for a more palatable price.
